Description

This limited edition was produced for the "Rock 'n' Roll Circus"
exhibition, presented in 2005 at the Arts Factory gallery in Paris.

Well-known by the Rock 'n' Folk readers, a magazine of which he has been regularly illustrating the pages for around fifteen years, Thierry Guitard appeared on the underground graphic scene in the early 1990s, as he contributed to many graphzines. Directly influenced by American popular iconography from the 50s where dismantled robots, highwaymen, enticing pin-ups and more contemporary urban violence share the stage, his world frees itself from its own influences thanks to a particularly quirky sense of humor.

Thierry Guitard is notably the author of the very well-recepted graphic novel Double Violence, which came out in 2001 at Vertical Publishings. He also illustrated the conceptual album Dum Dum which associates slam and a hardboiled story, out in 2006 at Discograph. In 2007 he joined the very private circle of the regular contributors to The New Yorker. The same year, he collaborated with Philippe Manoeuvre for the production of Etre Rock, an anthology of portraits of famous musicians with definitive quotations gathered by these two rock enthusiasts. In 2009, his well-documented illustrated biography about the dandy gangster Dillinger received a great welcoming from the critics.
