Anouk Ricard was born in Istres (South of France) in 1970. She studied for two years at Beaux Arts school of Aix-en-Provence and then joined l’Ecole des Arts Décoratifs of Strasbourg where she graduated in 1995 with an illustration degree. Anouk moved to Marseille and began to work for the youth press before the publication of some of her albums with the publishing house Le Rouergue. In 2004 she returned to Strasbourg and started to draw the book series "Anna and Froga" - originally created for Capsule Cosmique magazine. After this first successful starting into the world of comics, the publishing house, Les Requins Marteaux, asked her to draw a few pages for a more mature audience in their magazine Ferraille Illustré. Since this collaboration "Commissaire Toumi" was created.
Anouk Ricard’s universe is an encounter between South Park and La Maison Toutou and allows several levels of reading. Her off-the-wall humour juxtaposes a minimalist design really close to childhood with incisive dialogues mostly inspired from the adult daily life. She followed this editorial line in "Coucous Bouzon" published by Gallimard and "Planplan Culcul" by Les Requins Marteaux. In addition to her editorial activities, Anouk Ricard paints portraits of dogs and sometimes reveals her talents of singer and musician with the duet Frouky.
