Jochen Gerner was in born on September 12th 1970 in Nancy. After studying at Nancy National School of Fine Arts, he works as an illustrator for newspapers (Libération, Télérama, le Monde, Les Inrockuptibles, The New York Times, etc.) and has several books published by Rouergue or Association publishing (publications in "Lapin", a comic strip magazine, and in the collective work Comix 2000). Following his experimentations with the OuBaPo collective (Ouvroir de Bande dessinée Potentielle), Jochen Gerner is constantly exploring the links between words and pictures. In this way he achieved "TNT en Amérique" in 2002. By twisting the famous comic strip, Hergé's" Tintin en Amérique", and from personal alchemy, he gives his own view of American society.
His works have acquired an important visibility on the contemporary art market, through the Anne Barrault Gallery who has been representing him since 2005.
